We now need to go back to Constantine the Great in order to understand how the circumstances of the Catholic Church (at the time, the universal Christian church was the Catholic church) were set up in such a way that they became intertwined with temporal power and privileges.
We start off looking at the Emperors and the Roman Empire.
Then we look at how the transfer of dominance was passed from pagan institutions and the government they were intertwined with to Christian institutions and the government they were intertwined with.
Next we look at Constantine's life.
And some overall observations.
Ending with the city of Constantinople.
We then skip ahead to the end of the Dark Ages from the collapse of the western Roman Empire to Charlemagne and the Holy Roman Empire and the King of the Romans.
