Book Discussion: "Almost Astronauts"


Introduction:

Women Excluded from Early Process in Space Program

Mercury 12 - women were never officially considered as candidates for astronauts, if for no other reason than the fact the system of prestige flying, from which the first pool of astronauts were selected from, was only designed with men in mind, therefore women never gained the experience to compete for such a position.


But a private experiment was conducted that had nothing to do with NASA or the military who had no interest in anything that competed with their interests & that private demonstration showed that women could have been as physically & mentally capable as their male counterparts if they had been given the same training opportunities as men.
