Episode One: scheduled to air after Lyceum session on the book "The State, Man and War"
With guest: Stephen Walt
In the first half hour of the show, Stephen and Chris and Jeet will discuss the book, ““The State, Man and War”.
In the second half hour we want to look at how the dynamics we have discussed that exist in the institution of State also exist in Religious Institutions when they reach a point of holding and exercising power to maintain their power position. Historically / current examples?
Can the institution of a state military reach the point where it operates by the same dynamics? How does this come about? What are the consequences? How have this transformation of a military into a State operative affect the trajectory of history? Historically / current examples?
Can large corporations operate under the same dynamics?
When we reach the point of space settlements, how will enterprises in which a single person or a small group of people, whether State, Military or Corporation, who have control over all life needs, like air, dictate dynamics?
Are we setting up a trajectory / an acceptance of a dynamic - where single person or a small group of corporate boards will dictate relationships between states/ settlements in space rather than democratically elected state officials?
